Hard 6 & Marathon thoughts...

My after-work nap gave me a bit of energy yesterday for my run. So I decided to do the hard course instead of the flat one for it. The route I took has multiple hills and is mostly uphill on the way back. (It goes down by the Browns' and back.) I was still feeling pretty good after, so needless to say, I was pretty proud of myself!

I'm not sure how this saturday will go, but hopefully I can make it through the mileage. We'll see. I may have to take a water break in the middle.

I've been playing with the idea of what my game plan will be for completing this marathon. I'm thinking that my head will be the hardest part of the race since I'm not really a long distancer; and that if I break it up into increments, it might be easier for me mentally. I'm not sure of what I'm going to do yet, but I was wondering if you ladies thought about this at all? I know (one of) MB's goal(s) is to run the entire thing, but I'm not sure I can do that. I have looked at where the water stations are, and was thinking that since I already have a hard enough time drinking and running at the same time, I might walk for a minute at every other one of those while consuming some tasty H2O. There are 12 water stations at miles 2, 4, 7, 9, 10.5, 13, 16, 17.5, 19.5, 22, 24, 25. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. I noticed there is also a food station at mile 9.5 with the jelly belly sports beans, Shay! I'm just thinking, if I look at it like five, 4-5 mile runs instead of 26.2 miles, it seems almost possible to finish this monster! Just let me know what you ladies are thinking.

I also agree that we need shirts. What kind is the best to run this far in Al? I have definately found out which sports bra not to wear! Now I have to find the one TO wear. Maybe one of those neon pink ones like Alex Morgan had on in the World Cup.
